For the ultimate sleep experience, we have paired the ORO 2-in-1 100% Latex Pillow with a 22-momme 6A-grade Mulberry Silk Pillowcase.
Mulberry silk is produced by silkworms that feed on mulberry leaves. These silkworms spin their cocoons, which are then used to make various silk products. Mulberry silk is the finest silk available for textiles. A 100% rating means the fabric is made entirely of mulberry silk. This is important, as some companies blend mulberry silk with cheaper alternatives, resulting in a lower-quality product. Mulberry silk is exceptionally soft and durable.
What does 6a, 22-momme, 100% mulberry silk mean?

Silk is graded using a system of A, B, and C, with each letter indicating a different quality level. A represents the highest quality silk, while C denotes the lowest. The numbering system adds more detail; for example, one might see 3A, 5A, or 6A, with 6A being the top grade. Therefore, when you encounter a silk product graded 6A, you can be confident it offers the highest quality of that particular silk.
What is 22-Momme?
Momme is a unit of measurement similar to thread counts used in cotton. However, because silk fibres are much thinner in diameter than cotton fibres, thread count cannot be used for silk, which is why momme is utilised instead. Momme indicates the weight and density of silk. A higher momme means more strands of silk per 100 yards of fabric, resulting in a heavier fabric. For example, if the fabric weighs 19 pounds, then the momme is 19. The higher the momme, the better the quality and durability of the fabric. Momme ranges from 11 to 25; generally, the higher, the better. While 19-momme is higher than 11-momme, it is still considered “lower quality". Meanwhile, 25-momme is often too heavy for clothing or bedding and is typically used for decorative purposes, such as curtains. 22-momme offers a perfect balance and is ideal for silk bedding or clothing.

How should one care for silk?
Silk is an investment in your sleep, health, and beauty. Following these care instructions helps maintain silk’s natural qualities. It will continue to look and feel as lustrous and smooth as when you first bought it for many years to come.
Caring for Silk – 3 simple guidelines:
1) Use low heat (tepid water below 30ºC / 86ºF). Machine or hand-wash.
2) Only use a detergent specifically formulated for silk – delicate (pH neutral, no enzymes). Avoid fabric softener.
3) Towel or air drying (no tumble drying). Optional: Cool iron on the reverse or use a steamer with a silk attachment.

Machine Washing
Silk fabrics can be washed in a machine or by hand using cool to warm water (below 30°C or 86°F), with the fabric turned inside out. It is recommended to use a delicate wash bag for extra protection during the wash cycle. When using a washing machine, choose the delicate cycle setting.
Washing Detergent – pH Neutral, Without Enzymes
It is vital to use a gentle, pH-neutral detergent that does not contain enzymes. Standard washing detergents often include enzymes that break down proteins in fabrics during cleaning to loosen dirt; however, because silk fibres are made from protein, these enzymes can damage the silk structure and quickly harm the fabric, reducing its lifespan, sheen, suppleness, and softness. When used with a specialised detergent designed for silk or wool, your silk bed linen will provide maximum comfort for many years, remaining as beautiful as the day it was purchased. A final note on washing – avoid using fabric softener on silk. Fabric softeners can clog the fibres, diminishing their lustre and natural suppleness.
Silk dries remarkably quickly on the line. After removing your silk from the wash, avoid wringing it; instead, gently squeeze out any excess water. Although silk is a strong fabric, it loses about 30% of its strength when wet. Therefore, taking extra care will ensure it lasts for many years.
Lay out some clean, light-coloured cotton towels on the floor, place your silk product on top, and gently roll it up like a log, allowing any air to escape to prevent it from being trapped inside and causing a ballooning effect that could damage the seams. Gently squeeze; do not wring. Unravel, reposition the silk, and repeat (if necessary for bed linen) before hanging your silk to dry outside in the shade or indoors, away from direct sunlight.
Creases from drying will smooth out after a few days of use. However, if you prefer a freshly ironed look, it is best to iron the item inside out on a cool setting while it remains slightly damp (not completely dry).
This will relax the creases and improve the lustre. Alternatively, you may use a steamer with a silk attachment. Ensure you use the silk attachment.
Dry Cleaning
While always an option, we find it unnecessary (do not use trichloroethylene).
