This revelation compelled me to delve deeper, uncovering not just statistics, but countless stories of heartbreak that ripple through entire families. The urgency and scale of this crisis moved me profoundly, igniting a passion to make a real difference.

Through my research, I discovered the Midlands and North of England Stillbirth Study (MiNESS), published in BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. This landmark study—the most extensive ever conducted on maternal sleep position and stillbirth risk—offers powerful, evidence-based insights that can save lives.

The article reveals a breakthrough finding: women who sleep on their backs face a 2.3-fold higher risk of late stillbirth compared to those who sleep on their sides. This simple change—encouraging side-sleeping—has the potential to save countless lives, turning research into real-world impact.
