The Founder's Journey

Turning Pain into Purpose

As an entrepreneur, engineer, inventor with ten patents, and designer, I have dedicated my life to solving sleep-related problems and improving people’s lives. My journey has been shaped not only by innovation but also by personal experience playing football.

One fateful day, a devastating tackle landed me in the hospital. While I was lucky to avoid a broken back, I was left with a slipped disc that changed my life forever. At that moment, I felt a profound sense of vulnerability and fear, unsure of how this injury would reshape my future.

During my recovery, I quickly realised that quality sleep isn’t just a luxury, it’s the foundation of true wellbeing. Despite countless visits to physiotherapists and osteopaths, their treatments offered only fleeting relief; my pain would return before I even stepped through my front door.

The Second Part of the Journey

The second part of my journey began when I received information about Stillbirth, causing death of millions of babies globally. Which prompted me to do some research and what I found was heart breaking tragedy not just mothers losing babies, but for the whole family as well.

Through my research I found that the Midlands and North of England Stillbirth Study (MiNESS) were published in BOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. It is the most extensive study of maternal sleep position and risk of stillbirth.

The article describes the MiNESS study, which investigated the link between a woman's sleep position and the risk of stillbirth. The study found that women who sleep on their back have a 2.3-fold increased risk of late stillbirth compared to women who sleep on their side.

That prompted me to do something about it and the result was the two new inventions Stillbirth Alarm Sensor and ORO Mattress Stillbirth Alarm Sensors.

Our Business associates. Action Medical Research funded Tommy’s three years study. We support Action Medical Research because of its track record of funding innovative and life-saving research.
